My dearest Colette
Your letter about Finland2 came just after I had written to you. I am afraid it will be quite impossible for me to come. I have already as many journeys abroad arranged as are compatible with my work at Cambridge.
Yes the autumn colours here are lovely. In Trondheim3 it rained all the time, but here there has been brilliant sun and I have a heavenly view from my window.
Thank you, Darling for you dear loving words — They give me great joy — My loving thoughts are with your constantly.

Trondheim He gave a series of philosophical and political lectures as planned in Norway, after surviving the airplane crash. He had been in a flying-boat airplane travelling from Oslo to Trondheim on 2 October when the accident occurred. He was to visit Berlin on behalf of the Foreign Office after he left Norway, with his return to England scheduled for 27 October.
