My Beloved

It was hard to say goodbye — I was unable to say anything — you have been so wonderful since I came back from Russia3 — so full of love — Dear one, I am yours in all that is deepest and most vital in me — and I know my love for you is lasting because it is the very essence of me that loves the very essence of you — I am sad today — I hate leaving you — yet I know it is the right thing to go to Peking4 — Keep me alive in your heart, my Darling — Thank you for your dear letter — Bless you, my Heart’s Comrade.5
