My Beloved

Here I am, arrived 10.30 — very sick the first half of the way, then the journey grew delightful — we came in sight of land yesterday evening and travelled through lovely scenery this morning — It is very warm, tho’ there is snow on all the hills. Half the town has been burnt down, so it is less picturesque than when you saw it.2 I leave here tomorrow morning and spend 1 or 2 nights in Christiania — possibly Allen & Co. will be in time3 to catch the same train tomorrow — I have walked all round the town and enjoyed it —

Dear Heart I can’t tell you what happiness is in my soul from our last day together4 — The joy of it will stay with me all the time I am gone — I shall feel very near you all the time — Bless you my dear dear Love —

than when you saw it Colette visited Bergen in Norway with her mother before World War I — they travelled on a yacht owned by Sir Max Waechter. She writes about the striking Hanseatic houses in After Ten Years (London: J. Cape, 1931), p. 64.

Allen & Co. will be in time For whatever reason, BR was no longer with Clifford Allen and other members of the British Labour Delegation. They met up again in Kristiania (Oslo), Norway on 30 April. For information on Allen, see BRACERS 19046, n.7.
