Beloved
Thank you for your dear little line.4 It was a wonderful time we had together —
I saw the woman5 who works at my flat6 — She is large and florid and a fearful talker. I told her she was to work for you, but if I were you I should give her work she can do outside, washing for instance — you couldn’t stand her.
Enclosed from Harrison7 is really quite encouraging — He doesn’t want to be too enthusiastic because of course he doesn’t want to be committed in advance to taking future things.
All my love Darling — Too busy for more — I love you with all my Soul —

Enclosed from Harrison A letter, 24 November 1919, from Austin Harrison of TheEnglish Review, which had published Colette’s short story “The End” under a pseudonym. He writes: “I think Christine Harte’s stories are quite good, though a little bit neurotic perhaps, in tendency, but the technique is good” (BRACERS 19587).
