My Beloved
I am longing for you so much — I am hungry for your arms — I do wish we could be together now — but it is impossible — Dear Love, think of me having you in mind always, feeling your arms round me, thinking of you when I hear the sound of the sea, and when the night-wind blows, and when the owls hoot — they bring back the owl in the Avenue4 at Ashford — the times we have had together keep coming before me in vivid images — and I feel in imagination the strange holy feeling I have when I touch you — Without you my soul is lonely — no one else can speak to the deep sensitive passion that is the core of my life — Beloved in another week I shall see your eyes and feel your arms about me and stroke your hair and the world will be filled with a deep awe — Goodbye my heart’s life.
