My Beloved

Thank you for your little line this morning — I am sorry your morning went to pieces but not surprised — only your writing will suffer, and it is good enough to deserve to be treated with respect. — I got your wire4 and have sent in to my Bank your cheque filled in for £54.10s, which was what it had come to with odds and ends —

Mrs. Streatfeild5 is making a dead set at Allen,6 but he is obdurate —

Last night was amazingly beautiful. After dinner C.A. and I went up the near hill (with the mound on top) — there was sunset one side, and moon on the sea the other — and a great wind from the ends of the earth — I did long for you, my Heart’s Life — But I felt you so near in spirit that the longing was not sharp and bitter — there was joy at the bottom of it — Goodbye my loved one — I am yours as I have never been before — it is a nearer and more intimate and deeper thing — All blessings on you; Beloved —
