My Dearest Darling
Your telegram4 last night was an overwhelming delight to get — very exciting, as I long to know what is happening about your work — also how long you will stay — Littlewood5 got sea-sick in the boat, so we had to stay in the village till he got well, so it was late before I got your telegram — Thank you my Darling for your letter this morning6 — I am grateful when you tell me of your doings — Yes, by all means, let Clare7 come and stay, one night or longer as she likes — She won’t hurt us — and this is an ideal place to get well in. I will see that the motor is at the station at 1.9 Saturday (you leave Waterloo 9.30) but I’m afraid I can’t come to meet you, as it runs as a bus and is full with passengers — but I will inquire this afternoon. O my Beloved it will be divine to be with you here in all this wonderful beauty — The place grows and grows on one —
I ordered 100 cigarettes sent to you — You had better bring them, as Littlewood and I have none —
I wonder if you have had a moment to find a present from me — And I wonder how George’s tea8 turned out! What a joke your going there —
My lovely Darling, my Cherub, my heart’s Life — Saturday I shall feel your arms about me and all the choir of heaven will sing in my heart —
B.
