My dear dear Love

Your letter this morning still tells no more than your wire except that the Dr. is pleased3 with you, which I am glad of. I was anxious about that. — I feel a great deal of unhappiness in your letter — it is different from the letters before —

My jealousy shall not rob you of the joy of life, or destroy the freedom and happiness of our love — Time accustoms me gradually to new ways of feeling. There was much besides simple jealousy in what I felt lately. But the last moment by the Cove at Lulworth4 started a new frame of mind which will make things easier on future occasions I think. Meanwhile, I love you with infinite tenderness, and with a terrible feeling that I have made myself powerless to bring you comfort — I hope that will not be for long.a
