Your letter worries me terribly3 — I keep puzzling as to its meaning and inventing possible interpretations — I can’t think of anything else at all — I feel something has upset you — Whatever it is, my love surrounds you always my beloved — you may trust me in that.
Miles4 comes to see me tomorrow morning. I will come to you between 4.30 and 5 unless you telephone something else — I wish I knew your news — My Heart’s Love, I am yours always, and my love is with you in everything at every moment.

Your letter worries me terribly. She had written on 14 September that she was “caught up in a sudden wave of events, half glorious, half less so.” She would keep all news until their next meeting (BRACERS 113062). In response to BR’s concern, she wrote another letter that evening telling him that her news was that she had finally got an acting job, not on the stage but in a film. It would take her north as it was to be shot in Lancashire (BRACERS 113063). The film was Hindle Wakes.
