My Darling, my Dearest, my lovely and wonderful Colette

I feel so full of love — the instant I wake my thoughts run off to you and stay there — I wonder if you are awake yet — if you are thinking of me? and how? — Darling — there was something you wanted to say last night and were shy about — and in the end you didn’t. I felt sorry I hadn’t got you to say it.

My lovely love, I can’t tell you the hundred-thousandth part of what I feel — I love you absolutely.

Now this must stop.

I have lost my fountain pen in its holder3 — I wonder if it is in your flat? If so, I should be infinitely grateful if Miles4 would bring it.
