My Darling
I am so ashamed of having written such a depressed letter — I don’t know why I felt so depressed, but anyhow I have got over it — Sanger was cheering, and it was nice to think of all the places in Italy where we shall be. We settled to begin by walking over the Mont Cenis pass, reaching Turin Thursday 7th — then by train to Bergamo (9th) — walk in the mountains and reach Brescia 14th or 15th, Verona 19th or 20th, then join Miss Stawell and Lucy Silcox at Punto S. Virgilio on the Lago di Garde for some days, and get home 30th or 31st. — We start Thursday night (31st). Sanger was very affectionate — he warms one’s heart.
Don’t worry about me — I am all right really. It was heavenly being with you. I love you with all my soul and with the deepest devotion — far beyond anything I shall ever feel for any other human being. Goodnight goodnight I am yours in pain even more than in joy.
Your
B
