My Darling Love
We have just arrived here and I am sitting out in the hotel garden overlooking a bay — the place is beautiful beyond belief — a kind of healing beauty — water and shore and buildings and low hills are all the most wonderful delicate colours — it is Atlantic beauty, more mystical than Mediterranean beauty — it faintly reminds me of the Hebrides — I had no idea it would be so wonderful — there are no tourists and it is not at all “developed”. I should like to stay here forever — like Shelley — It has moved me so much I felt I must write to you — but I have nothing else to write about. Anything that moves me much makes me long for you my Dearest Dearest — I do hope you are not unhappy — Goodbye — my deepest love is with you always and everything deep holds me more closely to you.
