Sunday night.
My Darling Love
No letter came from you last night — I suppose you wrote to Camb., in which case I shall get it tomorrow morning — Here I am still alive after two very tiring days — endless discussions, at which I was in the chair, and endless arguments afterwards with deaf philosophers — Stout and Alexander. But I enjoyed it, especially seeing Alexander, whom I love. The discussions were all on psychological subjects that I know nothing about. We ended up with a grand dinner given by Carr — Haldane was there, very fat and prosperous, ending a long feast by a huge hunk of cheese. He has the face and air of a humbug, but I don’t really dislike him. The whole thing did me a world of good — it took me out of myself. I had got morbid with work — I don’t think I will go on with my writing now. Inference, which I must write on next, wants a lot of thought; I haven’t got my views in order about it. So I will take a holiday till you come home.
Darling I am so ashamed of having written worrying letters lately — it was only nervous fatigue — Wittgenstein and work together are trying. My thoughts are already turning to “The place of good and evil”. If I can do it well, it might be very good.
Today Julian was leaving wasn’t she? I hope you will get rested these last days — I am afraid you are terribly tired.
Post is going and I must stop. I am sorry to write such a scrap, but it carries much love with it. Goodnight Darling.
Your
B
