Tuesday morning.
The post was earlier today and I have time for a few words before the family come down. Thank you for your long letter which I was delighted to get. What you write about love is anything but nonsense — I can’t think why you think you write nonsense — you write very well both in matter and form. I am glad of Charlie’s letter about Dora. The Trevys don’t want me Thursday to Saturday so perhaps I shall come back here.
I am sorry you have disgraced yourself, but I quite see that if you are ill you must be punished. I am sorry too that you don’t get a holiday from Lamb.
The table is being laid for breakfast and they are rushing in and out clattering and talking — it is very hard to write.
This must be posted or it will be late. Goodbye Darling till tomorrow 1.30 (or thereabouts).
Your devoted
B
