My Darling Love

You must be now on your way to Euston — I hope not very tired. It was a joy seeing you so well yesterday and altogether it was an extraordinarily happy day. I will try to believe that inspiration will come back — I think very likely it will with leisure. But it won’t if I learn to live contentedly without it.

Last night I went a little walk, then came home and began Father and Son, which is fascinating — it is so real and direct and such an interesting clash. I slept a great while and am still not awake really.

Dearest, you do have a very great power of helping me to be the best I am capable of and to get the best out of myself. It is difficult to do and no doubt I ought to be able to do it all myself. But your faith makes things immensely easier for me.

I shall be easier in my mind this time than I was last week, seeing you come back alive. I am sure your speeches to the women must help them to feel the importance of things and how much there is to do.

I hope this may reach you tonight but if it is to do so I must stop. It is a wretched scrap, but I am still almost asleep and my mind won’t work — it is reaction from having been so stretched. Goodbye my Darling. Good luck to your work.

Your loving
B.

I enclose an old scrap3 — not good, but expressing a mood.
