My Darling

It was good of you to manage a little note in spite of the hurry and I was very glad to get it. I wonder whether you found Lamb waiting in a fearful temper because of your being late.

Last night Littlewood (the youngest mathematical lecturer) came and talked some time about various topics — This morning by great diligence I got my proofs finished and took them round to the Press. Now I am reading the Libretto of the Magic Flute. I took the tickets back and they said they would sell them if they could. — A man named Rawson threatens to descend on me; he is an engineer and a Xtian Scientist and has a son at Trinity. He wrote to me about a year ago saying his ideas and mine were much akin, and enclosing a huge book professing to be one lecture delivered at Garden City. It was utter nonsense. Goodness knows what I shall say to him when he comes to see me today or tomorrow. Tomorrow I go to the Sorleys to lunch, and in the evening I think of going to hear J.M. Robertson maintain that Christ never existed.

Darling I haven’t time for a proper letter. It is a comfort that you were rather better later on. I wonder how you are today. Walks are very good for tired nerves — I expect you ought to walk more. Goodbye my Dearest Love. All my Heart is with you.

Your
B
