My Darling
Just one line to say how very sorry I am that you are so frightfully tired, and that I will be with you at 11.30 tomorrow. Do please stay in bed if you are tired — Oh dear, I wish you were stronger —
I have very little time — Ogden came almost immediately after I posted my letter this morning. He stayed till Gilbert Murray arrived; as soon as he was gone Goldie turned up, saying he was doubtful of coming Saturday, but making it quite clear it would not be for lack of friendliness to you if he didn’t. Then I did proofs and had a short walk and a short bicycle ride, during which I met W.E. Johnson, a logician of first-rate ability but no vitality — a man I rather dislike. He asked me to a feast at King’s next Wed.3 and I had to accept. Then I made my lecture and a paper of questions for my people; then I lectured (better than usual I think) then I had Geach and the Maltese and a threatening of the German; then dinner; and now my evening begins soon. So far I have only done 3 pages of the proofs.
Now this must be posted. My Darling I am grieved when you are ill. I almost feel it physically myself. Goodnight my Dearest — my love is with you every moment.
Your
B
