Darling Darling
I have just found your dear letter on getting back from the dentist. It is such a joy. I quite understood your remark about Prisons coming when it did — I should not have noticed that it was odd if you hadn’t said so — it seemed natural then. I am very glad you do feel as you do about it. I will correct it during Xmas vacation and then show it to Dickinson — I think I would rather P. didn’t see it till I am satisfied with it. It is always painful showing imperfect things and one only does it for the sake of criticism. The first proofs of my shilling shocker have come at last — they seem to recall a bygone age. I wrote them here in the last half of June. — I hope Dora won’t come in the morning tomorrow and find me! I am very sorry you were so tired yesterday. If you are tired tomorrow couldn’t you stay in bed and receive me upstairs as you did once before. I hate to make you hurry in the morning — Alderman Thompson is rather nice — he is a product of Richmond and used to come to Pembroke Lodge sometimes — then I saw a good deal of him when I stood at Wimbledon.
I am so full of happiness that I am almost ashamed with less fortunate people, and feel as if it would be insolent to let it appear. Darling I am already longing for tomorrow morning. I must stop now and get to work. I love you I love you Dearest with all my soul.
