My Darling

I ought to have realized that it would be just as hard for you to write letters at Radlett as to receive them — I hope I shall get a letter late tonight or tomorrow morning — I have some difficulty in writing without North’s noticing who my letter is addressed to or that I don’t address it — I think I shall have to write in my room at night. I think too that I shall have to write only once a day unless for something special — Life here is uneventful and placid, we both sleep a very great deal, read a little and work a fair amount. I am getting on with my stuff. I think after all I will send you the beginning soon, if you are not too tired. But I will wait till you feel well and have plenty of time.

I am very anxious to hear what your oculist said and did, whether your eyes are better, whether you are very tired, and everything else about you. Let me know if this reaches you by first post tomorrow.

I wish I had finished this beastly book.3 I resent the way it compels me to turn my thoughts away from you and things that might interest you.

I find it so hard to be interested in things that I feel won’t interest you. Yet one can’t write without being interested, at least not well. Otherwise I am enjoying this time a good deal — I shall be very impatient to see you again, but my last visit is not yet faded enough — I can still see you standing on the Corner as I went away — I can always hear your voice but I can’t always see you. Don’t forget about Julian.a I want to give her something she would enjoy now. Goodbye my Dearest Dearest — I love you, love you, love you, my Joy and my Life.
