My Darling
I was very glad of your letter this morning and began at once reading about poor Spencer. It is a very amusing book — thank you for it — P. must be glad of his success last night. I am glad he got the city jobbery stopped.
I went to McTaggart’s last night — there were there Lytton and a friend of his (whom he supposed I know tho’ I didn’t), Broad, North. I don’t think anything interesting was said.
What an awful existence you are having. I thank heaven I don’t have jobs of that sort to do. They would drive me wild. — I wonder how you are getting on with Miss Sands. I dare say the effect of Logan will wear off after a bit.
Darling I will come at 11.30 tomorrow — I will reach Liverpool Str. at 10.56,a which means about 11.30 at Bedford Square. I long to be with you again. I fear it will be a very brief moment but I shall be glad of it, and it will be a joy to see you on your birthday. I shall stay the night in London probably.
Now I have to go and see the Press about printing, and then I must get on with writing my book. This is a miserable scrap of a letter, but I wrote everything last night. Goodbye Dearest. All my heart is with you every moment.
Your devoted
B
