Dear Amethe,
We keep thinking with distress of your present difficulties and can think of nothing that might help even a little save what we are now doing. We cannot send pounds because of the currency regulations so we are asking Miss Louise Watson, who kindly manages Edith’s dollars in America, to forward to you for us the dollar equivalent of £100. We hope so very much that you will not mind our doing this — it is, alas, so little — and that you will accept it. It will be a truly great happiness to us if you will.
With love from us both,
Yours affectionately,
Russell
