My Darling
Visitors have stayed later and I have only a moment before the post. I have heard from 2 sources that Eckland was interviewed today and that no decision was come to — first from Waterlow then from Goldie. Waterlow informed me that “probably it all depends on what impression he makes on Ottoline” — impertinent wretch — but I had to bear it.
I had the Whiteheads and Goldie to dinner — very pleasant, but unfortunately Meredith and his wife came in later, which spoiled the party rather. They have only just gone. — I have been reading Whitehead’s shilling shocker, which is absolutely masterly — quite astonishingly good. — Mrs Phillimore wants me to go to her July 15–17, Sat. to Monday. I suppose there is no point in keeping myself free then, is there?
Goodnight my Darling — this must go. I love you I love you. Nothing else seems to be worth saying. I hope you are not tired again and that you will enjoy the sights. I agree with you about crowds — but chiefly when I am feeling in sympathy with them. — All my love goes with this scrawl.
Yours utterly
B.
