Dear Lewy
We are both sorry you have left Cambridge, and sorry not to have seen you before you went. We shall look forward to seeing you at Xmas-time, and, I hope, making the acquaintance of your wife.1 I infer from the manner of your announcement that you are deeply attached to her; I hope it is mutual, and if so I congratulate you.
I am obsessed by the futility of all our pursuits, since England will be wiped out in the next war. But we have to go on pretending.
Yours sincerely
Russell
