Lady Russell is glad to hear of the celebrations planned for BR's centenary. She asks to be kept informed and will decide at a later time whether to accept the offer of being the university's guest. The letter is reproduced in facsimile in K. Blackwell and D. Dear Professor Ready,
Thank you for your letter of 5 May. I much look forward to seeing you if you come to this part of the world this summer,∗ and to hearing what centenary celebrations your University Committee plans. It is very kind of you to ask me to be the guest of the University at the time of the celebrations and I should like to accept at once, but, as next fall is so far away, I am not sure if I shall be able to do so. Thank you, nonetheless.
With good wishes,
Yours Sincerely,
Edith Russell
∗Perhaps you could let me know when the time draws nearer and is more certain?
