BR feels the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament's current policy will only be effective by endorsing civil disobedience. He plans to make a statement to this effect at his first opportunity. He invites Muirhead to join "The Committee of 100" and requests an early reply.

Dear Mr. Muirhead,
The rapidity with which we are moving towards a nuclear calamity convinces me that events are moving too quickly for the present policy of our Campaign. It is my conviction that the effectiveness of our Campaign is becoming dependent on its endorsing a programme of civil disobedience.
I am going to make a statement at the first suitable opportunity expressing the hope that the Campaign will become convinced of the necessity of such a programme.
I should like to ask your support in carrying this into action. A group of one hundred persons called βThe Committee of 100β β for civil disobedience against nuclear warfare β is being formed and I should be grateful if you would join me on it. Could you favour me with an early reply?
Yours sincerely,
