Dear Mr and Mrs Farr,

We are so very sorry that you had so much trouble over our boxes. Your great kindness in undertaking to look after them for us was one of the incidents of our stay in America that we shall never forget. We haven’t written personally about them all this time because it seemed wiser while complications threatened to stick to legal communication.

I hear a lot about the Foot children but so far have not encountered them or at least have not recognised them. I hope Lucretia or the baby who is no longer a baby flourish.

Mr. Twaddell was not my admirer, he was Kates! But we are glad to hear of him. With most grateful thanks and best wishes.

Patricia Russell
