Dear John1
Your excellent letter of Dec. 5 was very slow in reaching us — it only arrived two or three daysa ago. I am sorry you are not well — Take care of yourself, especially of your nose and sinus.
We are settled here for the moment, very happily. Princeton is small and cosmopolitan, so that the average I.Q. is amazingly high. We find the society pleasant. You will have heard that Trinity has elected me to a fellowship and I shall reside there from October on. I aim at getting home as early in the summer as I can, and probably at first I shall stay in London and see as much of you as possible.
The prospects for the post-war world do not look bright at the moment; I hope they will improve. Much has happened since you wrote, none of it surprising, but all of it disquieting. My reflections are not such as I care to write out. All you say about political feeling in England is most interesting.
Are you going to get your Commission, and when?
All goes well with me — I prosper both here and at home. But I want information from Tylor about my finances, especiallyb Molly’s money. Please extract it if you can.
Much love.
Yr aff father
Bertrand Russell.
