Dear Mr Russell,
I send you a paper on Types, with apologies — but logic has got hold of me for the time, et le diable me donne de l’audace. So, now that it is sent, I timidly hope that you will read it, and tell me what you think. My thing exactly manages to get round the Axiom of reducibility: it seems to do just that one thing. As that result was quite unforeseen, it gives me some expectation of its soundness.
I am not able, unfortunately, to go up comfortably yet. That is why I make bold to write and ask you a brief word of advice that would be precious to me.
Once more apologising for the trouble I know I am to you,
Yours very sincerely,
Jean Nicod
