Dear Professor Fisch,
Thank you for your letter of June 30. I am afraid I have very little to offer in relation to Piercea except what is already contained in my foreword to Feibleman’s book and in my letter to Lady Welby. There was very little relation between his work in logic and mine. His treatment of the logic of relations did not seem to me what was appropriate for mathematics, and, apart from that, I read very little of his work until my own was finished. I am sorry that I have no recollection of the letter from Pierce to Lady Welby that you mention. I never met Pierce and I cannot remember that we ever corresponded.
Yours sincerely,
