Dear Mr. Smith,
Thank you for your letter of January 23rd, and for the enclosed proof of an advertisement which I like very much. I am amused to find myself regarded as saying the modern equivalent of St. John’s Gospel.
I am glad to hear that The Conquest of Happiness has sold 12,000 copies, and is still selling, and I am grateful for the details you give me about the cheap edition of Education and the Good Life.
Yours sincerely,
<signed> Bertrand Russell.
