Dear Mrs McEwen
My wife has asked me to write for her as she is very busy owing to an interregnum in the kitchen. She is very sorry that she can’t accept your kind invitation for the 20th, owing to a committee of which she is secretary, which meets that evening. I could come, with much pleasure, but perhaps you would rather wait till we are both free. I dare say Harold wants to meet my wife — he knows about me already!
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
