Dear Stephanie May,

Thank you for your long report from Chicago of the Democratic Convention. It was both interesting and illuminating. It seems that Americans are to have a “choice” in November of Nixon, Humphrey or Wallace.

I have deliberately refrained from supporting either Robert Kennedy or McCarthy, because there seemed to me to be nothing in their public record which would prevent them on taking office from going the same way as Lyndon Johnson after his victory as peace candidate over Goldwater.

With all good wishes,

Yours sincerely,
