Notes and topics

This is eight typed extracts from letters which mention BR. His condition after his return from China is described: he "can't walk except with a stick, having sore places on his poor leg where he was injected with something to keep his heart going".

Elizabeth concludes that Dora "is the very wife for him" as long as they both stay away from politics. She is "healthy, placid, sweet-tempered...." She describes BR as "the most entertaining and amusing talker I have ever met. He is so happy now, and sparkles more than ever."
