BR comments on Blackett's paper, "Thoughts on British Defence Policy". BR agrees with his criticisms of British defence policy but not necessarily Blackett's own policy. Still, reduction of armaments is important for reducing tension and great waste of money. In a big war, nuclear weapons are sure to be manufactured, even if prohibited. He likes the description of the abomination of nuclear war on p. 17. "I was also pleased with the point you make that we have to go on thinking Russians incredibly wicked in order to feel justified in our plans for exterminating them by the million."
"I feel myself very much of an amateur in technical discussions of armaments...."
They look forward to the Blacketts coming to their cottage at Christmas time.
