“The Attic” was the nickname of the Mallesons’ rented flat at 43 Bernard St., London WC1. In June 1917 the Mallesons moved close by to 6 Mecklenburgh Square, WC1, which they also rented and initially called “the New Attic” before reverting to ”the Attic”. The house which contained the latter flat on the Square is no longer standing. “The spacious and elegant facades of Mecklenburgh Square began to be demolished in 1950. The houses on the north side were banged into dust in 1958. The New Attic was entirely demolished” (“Letters to Bertrand Russell from Constance Malleson, 1916–1969”, p. 109; ts. in RA).
