This typescript, no. 38, pp. 52-3, was typed for a literary collection of their letters. The document number typed on the file folder is ".052384-5"; two document numbers were mistakenly assigned to it.

The original letter is document .200301, record 19308. Both the original letter and this copy are in French, from Mirabeau to Sophie de Monier.

This typescript has an explanatory note: "The following letters were smuggled out of prison between the uncut pages of books. At first, to prevent any chance of discovery, the letters were written in the form of quotations."
