Notes, topics or text

Al-Washi, writing from Edinburgh, appeals to BR to save his sister's life "... in the name of justice and humanity". Al-Washi's sister is Leila Al-Roomi, a medical student who is slated to be executed because she is "not politically popular with the present regime in Iraq."

At the top left-hand corner in possibly Nicholas Johnson's hand: "Cable to Arif implore you in the name of humanity to halt the reported executions of Leila Al-Roomi, Safiri Jamil and Zakia Shakir." The text of the telegram is in Johnson's letter of 4 July 1963, record 64971.
