"Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter to Mr. Khrushchev of July 15 concerning the financing of the United Nations. At the moment, I am treating my approach to him as confidential. I might add that you appear to have misunderstood my attitude toward the Soviet Union. It is not the Communist way of life that I admire, but rather Mr. Khrushchev's realisation of the meaning of nuclear war. I wish that other statesmen had his good sense in this matter."
