"Alas it has been more than 3 years since I last had the pleasure of communicating with you. I was then an undergraduate student at Stanford University—and the subject was a proposed book on the population problem. Your generous encouragement and support of that proposal, as you already know, have led to the publication of The Population Crisis and the Use of World Resources. I am glad to inform you that an abridged and much-revised version will appear in paperback in April, 1965, under the title Population Crisis: Implications and Plans for Action. Of course you will receive a copy of it when it appears!"
