Blake has read of the Russells' activities in the Times and the Manchester Guardian, including visiting the Prime Minister. He also mentions trying to see Ivor Montague, who refuted Patricia Russell's comments in the times about Berlin refugees. He then reports the terrible state of people in the East, where the Russian soldiers steal, starve, and rape at will.
Blake asks them not to disclose too much publicly, but to help in any way they can.
