Davies addresses the issue that, according to BR, Dora is under the impression that Davies is withholding the certificates for the investments of Sanger's legacies to John and Kate. There seems to have been some miscommunication, as Dora's letter to Davies of July 27 arrived the day Davies left for his summer holiday, and the letter in response was written and signed on Davies' behalf. "The securities for the legacies to John and Kate were also found, and particulars were given of them, but as you had not asked for them in your letter, it was mentioned that our office was retaining them for the time being." Davies encloses the investments (not present).
