Enclosed letters (at documents .149673, record 110939, and .149674, record 110940) were sent by Cadogan to Chou En-lai and Nehru after a meeting of the subcommittee. Cadogan asks for contacts in India, and for copies of letters or telegrams BR sends in crisis contexts, so that they might be able to get a fuller picture of events.

There is a note at document .149675 which reads: "Any further query or letter from Cadogan is to go unanswered and any verbal queries from him are to be given a completely non-committal reply."
