Notes, topics or text

The letter is dated by reference to Jones' first sentence: "You have now been prosecuted and fined £100 costs for writing the Everett leaflet." That took place on 5 June 1916, but possibly the reference is to the dismissal of his appeal on 29 June. Jones writes that the letter was smuggled out.

Jones wrote: "Never mind, today is their day. Tomorrow will be ours." BR footnoted this as follows: "He was in Macdonald's first government."

A carbon copy is in the file.
